Description

Ruben's current daily driver. A 1990 VW Jetta Pacific Edition featuring special Pacific styling elements and Blaupunkt audio system.

When bought the car already had some modifications done to it. including but not limited to; a lowering kit, chassis bracing, full exhaust and a short ratio gearbox from a Mk.1 Golf Cabriolet. The car rode great, but harsh. With that in mind Ruben had some more modifications in mind for the car.

To improve the ride quality Koni Shocks and Eibach springs were ordered to replace the no-name coilovers on the car. Furthermore he disassembled the gearbox to replace the grinding 2nd gear synchro and fit a taller 5th gear. With these mods the close ratio gearbox still offers excellent driving enjoyment and acceleration in the lower gears, but noise and fuel reduction during highway driving are greatly reduced.

With future plans also including improving the sound deadening and audio system, this Jetta will surely evolve in an excellent car for both hitting the twisties as well as taking on long trips.
